Welcome. This blog is mostly about our travels, but we will add some notes on our activities in Washington from time to time.

A bit about our travels: Our trips of the last few years have taken us far and wide. We visit France and England quite regularly where we have friends in and around London and Paris, and in Brittany. We have also made three trips to Australia, visiting friends in Melbourne, and side trips to the Victorian coast, Sydney, Adelaide and the Barossa Valley in South Australia, and the mountains and seascapes of Tasmania. We have visited Thailand three times, with side trips to Chiang Mai, southern parts of the country, and Angkor Wat in Cambodia. We have clambored over Macchu Picchu in Peru, the Acropolis in Athens, Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, the Appenines in Tuscany, the Lake District in England, Ben Nevis in the Scottish Highlands, and Snowdonia in Wales. We've traveled by gondola in Venice, through the tunnel under the English Channel, and of course by trolley bus and streetcar wherever possible--in Frankfurt-am-Main, Pittsburgh on Three Rivers, Barcelona and even Dayton, Ohio--though not on one trip. We've also done extensive travels over the years throughout North America, spending time in such diverse places as New England, Baja California, Québec, Key West, New Orleans, the Pacific Northwest and the California mountains and coasts. We love big cities, living in one, but also like small places too.

We'll try to make this entertaining as we enjoy ourselves.
